This was a fun stop some 17 km west from Yekaterinburg where a simple Obelisk marks the "border" between Asia and Europe, East and West.

Tradition has it that first time visitors to the site must indulge in a bottle of Champagne and, being traditionalists at heart, we partook of a drop of three of a Russian "pink champagne" provided by our tour guide - it was actually a lovely drop and went down well in the cold, misty, wet of the moment.
There is the inevitable tourist / gift shop - it has a chicken on it's roof to the left representing Europe, and a dragon to the right representing Asia. We understood the dragon reference, but a chicken for Europe?
I think John was the only one who bought anything there but the bear items were cute symbology.
Nearby there are hundreds of ribbons tied by newlyweds which is apparently supposed to bring them good luck.
Our guide also proudly presented us with "official" recognition of our "act of bravery, crossed the boundary between two continents EUROPE and ASIA!"
