Take the long way

Today saw us returning home from New Plymouth. A chance meeting with a couple of fellow riders yesterday resulted in us revisiting an area last visited around 45 years ago. If the opportunity presents itself when travelling between Otorohanga and New Plymouth and you have around 1.5 hours to spare try turning right towards Waitomo Caves if heading South or left after the Awakino Service Station when heading North. Marokopa is on the coast and well worth a visit, old style NZ holiday “resort” in a lovely setting. The road is sealed but for around 10Kms and in really good condition. Just watch out for goats, stock and loss chip in places. The metalled portion was smooth with good speeds possible.
So all up we’ve done more than 1200kms in the saddle over the last six days testing ourselves, the bikes and our mods. As american V-twin riders we keep saying how impressed we are with the little Kawasakis. They do everything we ask of them with a lot less hussle and bussle than our V-twins.
